"Green Card" is a compulsory motor third party liability insurance recognized by many countries around the world. Crossing the border of most foreign countries by car requires the possession of a "Green Card" certificate. The countries that are members of the Green Card system shall mutually recognize insurance contracts taken out by one of the countries and shall ensure that the injured party's damages are recovered in the event of a road accident abroad.
The object of the "Green Card" insurance is the patrimonial interests of the owner and user of the vehicle related to their obligation to compensate the damages caused to third parties, caused by the car accident (insured case) within the territorial limits of insurance coverage.
Risks covered:
Causing material damage or personal injury to third parties as a result of a car accident.
The limit of liability corresponds to the conditions of compulsory motor third party liability insurance in the country where the insured case took place.
The insurance tariff varies depending on the category of means of transport, the insurance period and the territoriality of the coverage, the price is set by the state in EURO and no discounts are allowed, payment is made in lei after the NBM exchange rate on the day of payment.
The "Green Card" insurance certificate can be concluded for any type of means of transport: car, minibus, bus, truck, trailer, motorcycle.
The territory covered by the "Green Card" Insurance Certificate is divided into 3 areas:
Zone 1: Ukraine, Belarus;
Zone 2: Ukraine, Belarus and Russia;
Zone 3: all member states of the Green Card system (European countries).
Insurance period:
The insurance contract can be concluded for a period of 15 days to 1 year.

• The possibility of traveling by car abroad;
• The possibility of guaranteeing the financial security and liability of third parties, of the insured, in case of an accident on the territory of the member country of the "Green Card" system.
Actions taken at the occurrence of the insured case
If you are injured when you are in the territory of the country where the "Green Card" Certificate of Insurance is valid, by using the means of transport, you must:
• call the police at the scene of the accident;
• present the "Green Card" Insurance Certificate to the police.
If you are harmed, in this case, the regularization of the damage (with the obligatory condition of notifying the police at the place of the accident) is carried out as follows:
• if the person responsible for causing the accident is a resident of the country where the insured case took place, then the damage is settled by the Insurance Company, which insured the civil liability of the person responsible for causing the accident;
• if the person responsible for causing the accident is a non-resident of the country where the accident took place, then the damage is carried out by the "Green Card" Office in the country where the accident took place.
